


About Lone Elm Arboretum
Protect, Cultivate, Educate
The Lone Elm Arboretum is an arboretum located in Joplin, Missouri, established in 2016 by a group of local residents. The collection at Lone Elm contains over 150 trees representing nearly 40 unique species of woody plants. Its purpose is to inspire the community of Joplin to experience nature, to value the trees in our area, and to educate citizens about arbor issues.

Objectives and Goals:

Maintain a variety of native tree species in a healthy and environmentally friendly manner

Serve as a sanctuary for community members to experience nature

Observe Arbor Day and provide related activities

Host educational events to engage local students in nature

Serve as an outdoor classroom for local schools

Provide a model for other local arboretums

Expand our tree collection to 50 unique, native species within 2 years

Publicize arboretum work through videos, pamphlets, and social media

Conduct seminars on proper tree planting, species selection, and tree care
